Paul Scholes has called his critics "bell***s" in an Instagram rant, after people attacked his punditry for the Europa League final between Manchester United and Villarreal.
The Old Trafford legend appeared to write off the Spanish side's chances pre-match, pointing out that Villarreal finished seventh in a "really poor La Liga" and adding "Manchester United should win this game comfortably."
After Villarreal won the final via a 22-penalty shootout, Scholes attracted plenty of criticism but he fired back on social media.
"Had some s**t on here today," said Scholes with a laughter emoji. "Sitting on the edge of your box for 120 mins is now apparently a tactical masterclass, do me a favour [bell] ends!"

Scholes' IG message was a response to someone sending him a picture of Unai Emery holding the Europa League trophy with the message: 'Good ebening, Paul.'
Clearly the 11-time Premier League winner believes that the praise for Emery's gameplan and his side's tactical brilliance may have been overplayed.
Villarreal certainly defended tenaciously throughout the game. But they did take the lead through Gerard Moreno and, although United had chances to go 2-1 up after Edinson Cavani's equaliser, extra time was pretty equal between the two sides.

Manchester United were not the dominant force Scholes and his fellow pundits expected, as the BT Sport team on the night faced criticism for cheerleading the English side throughout.
Scholes certainly believes Villarreal's proficiency has been overrated and laid the blame more at a seriously disappointing Man United display as he didn't hold back in criticising his old side post-match.

But do you agree with Scholes that calling Villarreal's performance a tactical masterclass is going over the top? Let us know in the comments.
