Wijnaldum started in the Reds' 2-0 defeat to Everton and they now sit in sixth place in the Premier League.
The Netherlands international penned an emotional message on social media, stressing things will get better.
But supporters were furious with Wijnaldum and they believe his five-year on Merseyside should be coming to an end.
Losing yesterday was painful. We are in a difficult period where we create a lot of chances but don't score the goal. And we give away goals too easy.

We have to deal with the situation and still have a lot of games to turn it around.
Comments stressed they were not going to abuse the 30-year-old, but would "kindly ask him to leave".
Not gonna abuse you but could you kindly leave the club

Can't believe Wijnaldum has more apology tweets this season (8) than he has had league assists since 2016 (7) https://t.co/460XMQwI0z

Wijnaldum's going to be given the armband for the next few games, even though he's already decided he's leaving and his head is elsewhere.

I can't wait to see the back of Gini Wijnaldum. The biggest myth to ever play for the club. Ghost 4 out of every 5 games. The invisible man.

Wijnaldum's contract expires in the summer and it is currently unknown if he will be signing an extension.
Last summer saw him linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona who are managed by Ronald Koeman, Wijnaldum's former coach in the Dutch national team.
He'll likely continue playing this season due to Liverpool's increasingly large injury list.
Captain Jordan Henderson hobbled off during Saturday's loss while Fabinho is also injured.
