Erling Haaland thinks Liverpool are the best team in the world and he was incredibly excited to play at Anfield last season.

Haaland burst onto the scene in the Champions League with RB Salzburg last season, who were drawn in Liverpool's group.

He would seal a move to Borussia Dortmund in January but had the chance to play in Merseyside last November, and cameras captured his reaction.

The 20-year-old can be seen walking onto the pitch and saying: "The best team in the world. Very good fans, stadium, atmosphere, everything.

"So now it's a dream coming true to be playing here."

Haaland did manage to score against Jurgen Klopp's side but Salzburg fell to a 4-3 defeat.

The Norwegian sensation joined Dortmund a few months later and scored 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances last season.

He has started this campaign in fine form as well, bagging four times in three games for his club while scoring a hat-trick for Norway last weekend.

Haaland is regarded as one of the best strikers in world football and has been nominated for the Golden Boy award.

But the man himself told VG a number of strikers are currently outperforming him at an elite level.

While he explained he would bet on himself to start in an important match, Haaland goes on to name Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Sergio Aguero, Roberto Firmino, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Harry Kane and Timo Werner as his best in the world right now.

Haaland also explained why he signed for Dortmund saying, "There were of course a couple of clubs involved, but at the same time I did not know too much about this.

"But it was I who first mentioned Dortmund to my father [Alf Inge Haaland.]

"We were sitting at home in Salzburg and watching a game Dortmund played, and I said to him, 'Oi, look at that wall behind the goal. There had been something to play there.'

"I think he was half asleep on the sofa, but suddenly it became a reality. When I talked to them, I got a good vibe. I felt a little sold after that.

"What I liked so much about them was how direct they were. They said exactly how it was right for me. I liked that."
