Edinson Cavani managed to escape a potential red card during Manchester United 2-0 Everton despite looking to have his hand on Yerry Mina's throat.

The Uruguayan battled Mina all night during the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash and one incident early in the second half saw Mina on the floor.

Cavani looked to retaliate to Mina pulling his shirt by grabbing him by the throat and pushing him to the ground.

VAR is not in use in the Carabao Cup and referee Andrew Madley didn't see the altercation so it went unpunished.

Cavani would go on to score in the 88th minute and give United the lead.

Fans reacted to the challenge and they think Cavani was incredibly lucky to not receive his marching orders.

United started the game quickly and could've taken the lead through a number of chances.

But Everton grew into the contest and managed to soak up United's pressure for the rest of the first half.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side emerged with less energy in the second half but still managed to advance to the semi-finals thanks to Cavani and an injury-time goal from Anthony Martial.
