Arsenal fans think Mesut Ozil has aimed a jibe at manager Mikel Arteta after naming Matteo Guendouzi as the most underrated player he's ever played with.

Ozil hasn't been selected in the Gunners' 25-man Premier League squad and looks to have exiled from the club.

He took part in a Twitter Q&A on Wednesday evening and one fan wanted to know which player doesn't get enough credit.

The German international picked Guendouzi and explained: "I'm sure he will be a big football player one day!"

Guendouzi is currently on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin after allegedly falling out with Arteta last year.

Arteta is said to have been unimpressed by the 21-year-old's attitude and saw his future away from the Emirates Stadium.

Fans have caught on to Ozil's comment and they think it is a direct message being sent to the Spaniard.

Among other questions asked were Ozil's opinion on legendary manager Arsene Wenger.

Wenger signed Ozil from Real Madrid in 2013 and the pair won three FA Cups together.

"He was really a fantastic manager - yeah, and also like a father figure for me and many other players," the World Cup winner said. "I think many people around Arsenal are really missing him."

Ozil's deal is up in the summer and it seems his time in north London will be coming to an end.

When asked about the current situation, he replied: "It's a very difficult time for everyone around the club - not just for me. The situation is frustrating for everyone.

"Of course I would wish I could help the team especially right now, but as long as I don't get the chance I just hope that we get better results very soon again. But let's stay positive."

Arsenal are currently 15th in the Premier League and return to action on Boxing Day against Chelsea.
