Amidst worrying scenes as Manchester United fans flooded on to the pitch during a protest at Old Trafford on Sunday was one moment of hilarity.

A young boy manages to climb up on to the top of the goal at the Stretford End - only for a ball to send him flying to the ground.

Meanwhile, another supporter is pictured wearing some questionable trousers, perhaps paying tribute to United's zebra-inspired away kit.

Just hours before the team are due to face rivals Liverpool, United fans managed to break into the stadium and storm the pitch to protest against owners the Glazers.

There has been large unrest amongst fans of the Premier League side ever since the American took charge at the club. The recent European Super League debacle appears to have pushed United fans over the edge.

United are due to play rivals Liverpool at 4.30 pm on Sunday but that kick off time is now in jeopardy, and the game could be called off altogether.

Supporters had earlier protested outside the team's bus at the Lowry Hotel.

It follows on from an organised protest last week, where an American flag was burned and anti-Glazer banners were displayed.

Liverpool have been held back at their team hotel by Greater Manchester Police.

United were one of six Premier League clubs who initially signed up to the doomed Super League project last month. They all withdrew 48 hours later following a furious backlash from the wider football community.

Joel Glazer said sorry to supporters, but many United fans carried placards at the protest reading 'apology not accepted'.
