Phil Foden’s Incredible Display Vs Brighton Showed His Elite Status

Phil Foden showed he's becoming one of Manchester City's go-to superstars as he ran the show in a tight 1-0 win over Brighton.
The 20-year-old scored the only goal of the game as he created space for himself, then slotted the ball inside the post with pinpoint accuracy, just before half-time.
However that spectacular solo strike - which took Foden clear as City's top scorer this season on eight goals in all competitions - was just one highlight of a superb all-round display.
Foden unleashed his inner Zinedine Zidane at one point with a double roulette to beat two opposition players in midfield.
Adam Webster was reduced to fouling Foden, as Brighton simply couldn't handle the England international until he was substituted for Raheem Sterling (who blazed a late penalty over the bar) towards the end of the game. By that stage Foden had already sealed man-of-the-match honours.
Social media was full of praise for the youngsters display, with football fans pointing out he doesn't turn 21 until the summer and already walks into any team in the Premier League.

"The brilliant Phil Foden delivers again," tweeted Gary Lineker as the game was going on
"Despite not always playing he's Man City's top scorer in all competitions this season. Prodigious talent."
"Phil Foden walks into every single team in the country. Whether its in midfield or the forward line, he's in. I'm not joking," tweeted another football fan.

The Foden-inspired 1-0 win for Man City took them up to third in the Premier League, above Leicester and Everton on goal difference.
Manchester City are behind only Liverpool and Manchester United but with a game in hand - and with those two sides playing each other next.
