Jose Mourinho is often criticised for his treatment of up-and-coming players - and now Paul Scholes says he shares these concerns with regard to players Marcus Rashford and Anthony Marital.

The former Manchester United midfielder has complimented players Rashford and Martial, calling them 'really talented', but says that he's worried about the two players growing frustrated and leaving to another club and turning out to be 'sensational'.

Scholes said to talkSPORT: "I know they're good players, they're really talented players."

"I just don't want them to be players who leave and turn out to be sensational, because you can easily see that happening."

Rashford and Martial were brought onto the pitch during Man United's match against Brighton but they couldn't make an impact.

After the game, Mourinho criticised the performances of the pair. Scholes is concerned that the iron-fisted approach Mourinho uses is only hampering the young two players.

"It's a little bit worrying, especially the comment after the Brighton game," said Scholes.

"These young players need an arm around them these days, they need a bit of love at times and they aren't really getting that."

Scholes played his career under the guidance over Sir Alex Ferguson and so knows all about being a young footballer under pressure from their demanding manager.

Since Scholes and Ferguson left the side, however, things have taken a turn for the worst at Old Trafford. With now their third manager since Ferguson's departure, the Red Devils are yet to find the dominance they once had.

They have not won the league post-Ferguson and the closest thing they had to a title-challenge was this season, where they finished second but a whole 19 points off Manchester City's incredible and record-breaking total of 100.

Rumours have started to circulate about Martial possibly moving on from Man United his summer, but the hope is that both he and Rashford remain at Man United and have a long and fruitful career.
