Patrick Van Aanholt Destroys Matteo Guendouzi With Savage Tweet After On-Field Clash

Galatasaray defender Patrick van Aanholt has ruthlessly ripped Marseille youngster Matteo Guendouzi on social media after the duo's clash in the Europa League.

Guendouzi went down in the penalty area following a challenge from van Aanholt and won his side a penalty, before VAR overturned the decision.

The on-loan Arsenal man was convinced he earned a spot-kick and shared harsh words with van Aanholt in the minutes after.

It has seen van Aanholt take to Twitter and mock his opponent's hairstyle with a GIF from his Gunners days.

He said: "Running your mouth after VAR proved you wrong... likkleman needs to relax before I snatch that wig off your head . Well done to my lions for a well earned point on the roads."

The GIF in question shows former Marouane Fellaini fouling Guendouzi by pulling his hair during a game with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Guendouzi spoke following the 0-0 draw and said: "The player (Van Aanholt) didn't get the ball.

"He threw me off balance as I got into the box at full speed.

"It's clearly a penalty. The player does nothing but throw me off balance.

"It's annoying. Ten minutes just to check a penalty that should have been a penalty and then to not give anything afterwards..."

William Saliba and Mbaye Diagne also came to blows in the game and it sparked unsavoury scenes at full-time.

All that came after the game was stopped for nine minutes in the first half due to crowd trouble.

Riot police were called in and flares were even thrown along with other projectiles.
