The Premier League's total spending is reaching new heights, as is clear from this statistic, which compares the Premier League to other European leagues.

Fulham, Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers have collectively spent £100 million this summer, while other leagues in Europe, such as the Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga have spend just a fraction of that amount. Just check out this tweet.

The Premier League has become flooded with money in recent years. Every season, Premier League clubs receive around £100 million and this is usually spent back into the wages and transfers.

Being a team in the Championship has become luxurious position. If promoted, the club will receive life-changing money.

The flip-side of this is that the Premier League itself has become a scrap for the title, for Europe, and the rest a fight just to stay up. Relegation has never been more devastating for a club.

Newly-promoted sides are flashing the cash and spending money they would have only dreamed of several years ago. By not investing in the squad, especially when newly-promoted, is a major cause for concern and would likely result in a relegation the following season.

Dare we say it, but the Premier League is slowly returning to its former glory. Topped only by La Liga, with Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus meaning that the Spanish league is not the force it was before.

But regardless of money, the most important thing is that the Premier League brings us enjoyable and entertaining football: something which a majority of the newly-promoted sides are sure to bring with them.
