Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has arrived in Paris ahead of his expected appointment as PSG manager.

Pochettino has been out of football since November 2019, when Spurs sacked the Argentine after a poor start to the season.

Since then, the 48-year-old has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, but it seems that he is now set for the Parc des Princes. He is now at the club's headquarters to finalise the deal, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Pochettino has already featured for the Ligue 1 giants during his playing career, joining in 2001 and leaving for Bordeaux in 2003. During his time there, he won the Intertoto Cup and got to the final of the Coupe de France.

PSG are now much more accustomed to success, since being bankrolled by Qatar Sports Investment. Pochettino will be expected to dominate all competitions domestically as a minimum, as well as improve on their performances in the Champions League.

Former manager Thomas Tuchel made it to the final of the competition last season, but this wasn't enough to save him after a poor start to the current season - much like Pochettino at Tottenham.

PSG are currently third in Ligue 1, one point behind second and first placed Lille and Lyon. After winning the league at a canter in recent years, this has been enough to see Tuchel lose his job.

This will be Pochettino's first time managing a club with such expectations, and it will be interesting to see how his high-intensity and high-demand techniques work with the likes of Neymar and other big names at the club.
