A rampaging Luke Shaw run and finish helped Manchester United to a 2-0 win at the Etihad, ending Manchester City's winning run at 21 games.

An early Bruno Fernandes penalty gave Manchester United the lead as they made a rampant start, but it was the goal at the start of the second half that left Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler in shock.

Left-back Shaw received the ball inside his own half and raced forwards - leaving Man City players in his wake - then exchanged a one-two with Marcus Rashford. The ball briefly looked stuck under Shaw's feet, but he got it free then sent a pinpoint shot inside the far past.

Ederson had no chance with the finish - and the goal is more what you'd expect from an attacking player (or at least a Brazilian full-back). But Shaw has been in terrific form this season.

The 25-year-old's strike helped give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side a fully deserved three points against a tired-looking City.

Joao Cancelo had a torrid time on that flank and was replaced by Kyle Walker in the 65th minute.

Manchester City were the favourites going into the Premier League match, as Pep Guardiola's side had won an incredible 21 games in a row across all competitions.

However Man United got out of the traps fast in both halves of the game and could have had more than a 2-0 lead after an hour, had the otherwise impressive Anthony Martial been more clinical.

United are now unbeaten in their last 22 away games.

City had their chances too, particularly in the second half, but overall Manchester United held on fairly comfortably for the win.

The victory put Man United up to second in the Premier League table, 11 points behind their local rivals with both teams having 10 games to play.
