With the game finely poised at 2-1, Manchester United could have been given a penalty against Everton on Saturday - thanks to Jordan Pickford's latest mistake.

The goalkeeper charged in to a challenge with Red Devils centre-back Harry Maguire, with the defender having a clear header on goal. However, he appeared to get nowhere near the ball.

Referee Paul Tierney waved away the protests from the United players, and the game carried on.

In the end the decision wasn't pivotal, with the game finishing 3-1 - a brace from Bruno Fernandes and a late goal on the counter from Edinson Cavani giving manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a lifeline after Bernard had opened the scoring for the Toffess.

Looking back, the tackle looked remarkably similar to the one which saw Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk seriously injured by the England no.1 just a couple of weeks ago.

The Netherlands international was diagnosed with a serious knee injury, and it is unknown exactly when he will return.

Take a look below to see what you think of the attempted tackle...
