Why Cristiano Ronaldo Will Never Swap Shirts With A Roma Player

Cristiano Ronaldo will never swap shirts with a Roma player after being threatened by their stars 14 years ago.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has a long rooted dislike of the Giallorossi that's lasted since he played for Manchester United.

United faced Roma in the Champions League back in 2007, with the Red Devils going through 8-3 on aggregate after a thumping 7-1 win at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo was one of the game's standout stars and he said per Daily Express: "When it was 6-0, they asked me to stop, an opponent begged me to stop dribbling.

"Others threatened to hurt me. Roma? There is no player with whom I would exchange a shirt."

It was in the 2006/2007 season Ronaldo established himself as a key performer for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Before Ronaldo was the clinical poacher we all know today, he was a traditional winger who bamboozled defenders with his quick feet.

Rather than cutting in, Ronaldo would hug the touchline and beat players for fun before crossing and normally nabbing an assist.

Against Benfica, the Portuguese superstar truly carried United as an attacking threat and won the game single-handedly.

They emerged 1-0 winners and it comes as no surprise Ronaldo grabbed the assist, laying the ball on for Louis Saha.

Nowadays Ronaldo is an outright goalscorer for Juventus and he started 2021 in the best way possible.

His brace in a 4-1 win over Udinese at the weekend saw him reach a total of 758 career goals - moving one ahead of Brazilian legend Pele in the all-time goalscoring rankings.

According to statistics, only Slavia Prague and Czech Republic forward Josef Bican has scored more goals than Ronaldo in history.

Biscan notched 805 goals in 530 matches between 1931 and 1955.
