The Highest Scoring Players In Every Position Have Been Named

Ronaldo has now scored the joint-most goals in football history, but which other players are the best goalscorers in their positions?

A list of the highest scoring footballers in every position has been revealed following Cristiano Ronaldo's record-equalling goal.

Ronaldo scored in the 92nd minute of Juventus' 3-1 win over Sassuolo on Sunday to move level with Josef Bican on 759 career goals.

It means he'll have a change to break the record when Juve return to action on Wednesday against Genoa in the Coppa Italia.

But what about goalscorers in other positions? How do they compare to 'CR7'?

Check out the full list below.

Goalkeeper - Rogerio Ceni (131 goals in 1990 - 2015)

Right-back - Graham Alexander (107 goals from 1988 - 2012)

Centre-back - Ronald Koeman (253 goals from 1980 - 1997)

Left-back - Paul Breitner (113 goals from 1970 - 1983)

Right central midfield/Central midfield - Frank Lampard (274 goals from 1995 - 2016)

Left-midfield - John Wark (223 goals from 1975 - 1997)

Winger - Cristiano Ronaldo (759 goals from 2002 - present)

Striker - Josef Bican (759 goals from 1931 - 1955)

The most interesting name on the list is Brazilian goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni.

He started taking set-pieces for Sau Paulo in 1997 and continued to do so until his retirement in 2015.

He played over 1000 games in his 25 year career and his record will likely never be matched.

Current Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman features in defence, with over 200 goals.

One prolific season came in the 1987/88 season when he scored 26 goals for PSV from centre-back.

While Ronaldo inched ahead of Pele a few weeks ago, the Brazilian legend's social media team seemed to disagree.

The three-time World Cup winner's bio suggests that he has scored 1,283 goals, which is a dramatic increase on the 757 goal haul linked to his name.

However, he took to Twitter to address the controversy - claiming that his bio had not changed whatsoever.

"I was accused by the press of having changed my Instagram bio to overshadow these big stars that are breaking my records," Pele wrote, roughly translated.

"The bio text has always been the same since I joined the platform. None of this should distract us from your incredible achievements."

Who do you think will go down as football's greatest ever goalscorer?

Sound off in the comments.
