Joe Hart has posted a heartfelt message to the 'GOAT' Lionel Messi after receiving his commemorative bottles of Budweiser.

The Barcelona superstar teamed with Budweiser to send every goalkeeper he'd scored past in his career bottles of beer, as a way to commemorate him scoring the most goals for a single club.

A number of goalkeepers posted about the gesture over Christmas and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hart has finally had his say.

Hart conceded two against Messi while playing for Manchester City, but he isn't bitter about it.

Instead, he paid tribute to the 33-year-old with a message that read: "Nothing but respect for the great man @leomessi seems strange to be 'proud' to have conceded goals but at the end of the day we are dealing with greatness...

"Congratulations and it's just a privilege for me and to be a part of his history and a achievement that will never be matched."

Messi lauded Hart after a showing in the Champions League back in 2015.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner explained per BBC: "He saved everything. We had a lot of clear chances but the keeper had a brilliant game.

"We can only congratulate him, but the important thing is we achieved our objective to get through."

Among the other goalkeepers to receive bottles were Gianluigi Buffon, Manuel Neuer and Jan Oblak.

Having conceded 10 goals to Messi in his career, Oblak is an authority on how deadly the Argentine is in front of goal.

Speaking last month, Oblak gave insight into Messi's style of play and revealed: "He watches my legs.

"If I make one step, he will see it and shoot to the other side. This is why he is the best. This is why he is so difficult.

"He does not show it but he is always looking. He is always watching you. His eyes are on the ball but he sees you.

"He sees everything, I think. He has scored many goals against me. Too many! But he is a great player, an amazing player, the best player.

"There are many times that he scores a goal and you have this feeling that you cannot understand how he has scored so easily.

"You are not even close. Sometimes it feels like he has just passed the ball into the goal, it is not even a shot."
