Cristiano Ronaldo's Goal Record Since Lionel Messi's Ballon d'Or Win Is Insane

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 14 goals since Lionel Messi's sixth Ballon d'Or win in December - more than anybody else in the world.

The 35-year-old netted in Juventus' 2-1 defeat to Hellas Verona last night for his 14th goal in two months.

While Messi has only managed to score five goals for Barcelona in that time frame.

The Argentine has had a turbulent few months with the sacking of Ernesto Valverde as well as a public dispute with sporting director Eric Abidal.

Ronaldo only came third in this December's Ballon d'Or rankings and it's clear to see he doesn't want a repeat in 2020.

Only Ciro Immobile manages to come close to Ronaldo's record after nine goals in that time frame for Lazio.

Robert Lewandowski has also only bagged eight goals in that space due to the Bundesliga's winter break.

It's a staggering turnaround for the Portuguese international who had a slow start to the season by his standard.

Many had also speculated he fell out with manager Maurizio Sarri after a substitution against AC Milan in November.

Since then, he's turned the style on and averaged a goal every 88 minutes in Serie A this season.

He's hit the 20 goal mark and is five behind Immobile in the overall scoring charts.

Despite the incredible feat, he'll be disappointed in his side letting their lead slip.

The Bianconeri suffered their third Serie A defeat of the season after a Fabio Borini equaliser and Giampaolo Pazzini penalty.

'The Old Lady' coach Sarri criticised his team following the game.

"Evidently we have different performances and results when comparing home form to away. It was a difficult game, we knew it would be and that Verona would make us suffer early on," Sarri told DAZN per Football-Italia.

"We held out well, hit the woodwork twice, took the lead, but cannot drop points with such soft errors. The first goal was inexplicable, if we want Juventus to win games, we cannot keep making errors caused by a superficial attitude.

"Verona deserve absolute credit, as they were aggressive from start to finish and we knew they would be. We were aware that it was important to hold out for the opening 25 minutes, that we'd then have our chances.

"We did all that, but then threw the points away with superficiality and it's a habit we absolutely need to get rid of."

Inter Milan now have a chance to take top spot back if they win tonight's Milan Derby against bitter rivals AC.

But Juventus can't be counted out of a title race while 'CR7' is in this kind of form.
