Phil Foden has been hailed as the greatest player produced in England since World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore.

Foden starred for Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, laying on an assist for Ilkay Gundogan in a 2-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 20-year-old has played three times for his country so far and looks to be in Gareth Southgate's plans for Euro 2020.

TalkSPORT's Adrian Durham believes Foden needs to be a nailed on starter for the Three Lions and likened him to Moore, who is regarded as an all-time great defender.

"A lot has been said about Phil Foden but I was watching him on Tuesday night and was mesmerised with everything he was doing, with the leadership he showed, the quality of his work, the discipline of his work," he begun.

"Everything about him I was just amazed by. It's hard to believe he's still only 20, he's only played for England three times. I think that's a mistake from Gareth Southgate by the way.

"I cannot see a fault with this player.

"He has talent, he has quality, he makes a difference in games, he has tactical discipline, he has work rate, there's nothing lacking from his game. Over the years, how many English players can we say that about?

"There have been some fantastic players but I go back to the '66 World Cup and Bobby Moore. I don't think there was a flaw in his game.

"I think Phil Foden is the best since then and I never thought I'd say this. I'd have thought if someone said this to me it was hype but I genuinely believe it, Phil Foden's that good."

Moore played 108 times for England across 11 years and is an icon of the game.

Foden has a long way to go to reach that status but he's quickly developing into one of the Premier League's most talented stars.

BT Sport pundit Joleon Lescott commented on his performance against Monchengladbach and marvelled at the technical ability on display.

"You see in one of those clips him sliding to keep it in the final third, and that's the difference with Phil," Lescott begun per Boot Room.

"He's working with all these great players and obviously a great coach, but no one wants him to do better than himself. He watches training, so he's addicted to football and he deserves every bit of credit."

Do you think Phil Foden has the potential to be an England great?
