"Neymar Is A Real Clown Who Looks For The Slightest Fouls"

Neymar starred in Brazil's victory earlier this week, but Carlos Zambrano had some harsh words after the game.

Neymar has been called "a clown" who looks for the slightest fouls by Peru defender Carlos Zambrano.

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar has been away on international duty with Brazil and they beat Peru 4-2 on Wednesday.

He netted a hat-trick with two of those goals coming from the penalty spot - something Zambrano thinks he planned all along.

"Honestly, he is a great player, one of the best in the world, but for me he is a real clown, Zambrano told American Television program 'La banda del Chino' per Goal after the game.

"[Neymar] is aware of everything he did on the field, he is a great player but he was looking for the slightest foul.

"In the penalty area he threw himself four or five times to see if they would award him a penalty and in the end he achieved his goal, with two penalties, but they weren't."

Boca Juniors defender Zambrano, who received a red card in the last few minutes, added: "It's Brazil and at the touch [immediately] they went to look at the VAR. Whether the play was positive or negative, they did review the images because it is Brazil."

Neymar's goals helped him move ahead of Ronaldo Nazario in the all-time scoring charts, with the 28-year-old now sitting at 64 international goals.

Pele is the country's all-time record scorer with 77 goals to his name and Neymar looks on course to beat that in the next few years.

Ronaldo, who is widely regarded as one of the best players in Brazil's history, posted a message about Neymar's achievement to Instagram.

The two-time World Cup winner stated: "All my respect for you [Neymar]!

"He plays a lot, gives assistance, plays, dribbles and thrashes. The sky is the limit. Fly, kid!

What a beautiful story you are writing. A complete and increasingly mature player. Crack! Handling the pressure off the pitch is sometimes more challenging than the ball itself.

"Now tell me: where did we come from, where did we arrive...who is going to tell us what is impossible? Keep trusting your instincts because the talent is yours and nobody can take it from you.

"You have a lot of records to overcome and marks to leave. Proud to see a Brazilian at the top!"
