Jordan Henderson has revealed an incident which made him 'want to kill' Luis Suarez.

Henderson arrived at Liverpool from Sunderland in summer 2011 and Suarez had joined from Ajax in the previous January.

Now the Liverpool captain has revealed that the Uruguayan used to regularly belittle him in training and it got to him on numerous occasions.

Speaking on 'The Greatest Game with Jamie Carragher' podcast per The Mirror, the England international said:

"I was trying to do the best I can do. Being a footballer, there is criticism and people doubting you all the time.

"At that time, I was a young player and there were one or two things Luis did in training that I didn't like.

"It made me feel I wasn't good enough to be in the same team in training.

"The arms were up like 'what the f***, what is he doing', like I shouldn't be there.

"That really hurt me. He did it three times and then I exploded and I was ready to kill him."

The 29-year-old went on to praise Suarez and say they had a good relationship until he departed for Barcelona in 2014.

"From that point, I had a good relationship with Luis. The next game I set him up for his goal.

"He was brilliant with me after that and I was really close to him after that and he was another big player I learned from."

Henderson has drastically improved since joining Liverpool as a 20-year-old.

He was named captain after Steven Gerrard moved to LA Galaxy in 2015.

His Anfield career has spanned eight years and he's become a linchpin in Jurgen Klopp's midfield.

Furthermore, he has made over 300 appearances for 'The Reds' and has won the League Cup as well as captaining his side to Champions League and Premier League glory.

The former Sunderland man is also a key figure in Gareth Southgate's England side.

Perhaps Henderson wouldn't have become the player he is now if not for Suarez's harsh introduction at Melwood.
