John Terry's playing career has come to an end, according to reports.

Terry is currently a free agent after joining Aston Villa last year. The Midlands club missed out on promotion and there has been issues with the club's ownership.

But outlets are suggesting that the former Chelsea captain is now in discussions with a leading gambling firm over becoming an ambassador for the company. It means that the defender won't play another game of football, in England at least.

FA rules state that no player can have any ties with gambling companies and so if Terry was to sign up and became an ambassador, he would not be able to play.

It's possible that Terry could head overseas and play for a club in a foreign country, but with the former England player having pundit work, he might not find this a favourable option.

Terry is widely considered the one of the greatest defenders to ever play football. Not only was he hugely talented on the ball, he had world-class defending ability, and a mentality which is largely unmatched. He lived and breathed Chelsea and everyone who supports the club is sorry to see him go.
