Paris Saint-Germain are in discussions to sign Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich - and this has riled up a section of Man United supporters, who are fearful of undergoing a season with the same back-line as last year.

According to Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, via Sky Sports, the defender is holding talks with PSG and could well make the move to the French capital this summer, after a more than successful period with Bayern, who he's played for the Bundesliga giants across seven seasons.

Rummenigge said: "At the moment there is no direct contact between the clubs. But there is contact between his agents and PSG.

"We have to wait, if we could find a basis for a transfer. Now we have to wait and see whether, at the end of the day, we find a basis on which we can agree on a transfer.

"We have to find a transfer fee that would be acceptable for both."

Boateng has won six league titles since he joined Bayern from Manchester City in 2011, making 258 appearances across all competitions.

Despite his poor spell at Man City, Boateng has earned a name as one of the best defenders in the world.

Manchester United are also linked to the player, with Jose Mourinho keen on bringing in a centre-back to the side, in order to bolster his backline.

The supporters feel like they've missed out.

Toby Alderweireld has been mooted as a possible option for the Red Devils, but they'll have a tough time encouraging Spurs to sell up to a rival club.
