Thousands of Arsenal fans have gathered outside the Emirates Stadium to protest against owner Stan Kroenke prior to their clash with Everton.

Arsenal were one of six Premier League clubs ready to break away and join a European Super League before plans collapsed earlier this week.

Many Gunners fans think the club has been run poorly for some time, having slipped away from Champions League contention in recent years.

They now believe it is time to take a stand and have descended on the club's stadium in an act of unity.

Journalists are in attendance and have footage of fans chanting 'Kroenke Out' as well as 'We want our Arsenal back.'

The protests officially started at 6pm and numbers have rapidly grown since.

Manager Mikel Arteta revealed on Thursday that Kroenke had apologised to him over the European Super League controversy.

When asked about an apology, the Spaniard explained per Sky Sports: "Yes, starting from Vinai [Venkatesham, chief executive], the ownership and everybody that is involved in the process.

"All of them with the right intentions to defend the club, and put the club in the best possible position for now and for the future.

"But accepting that the way it's been handled has had terrible consequences and that it was a mistake.

"I have to really respect that when people have genuine intentions to do the best for this football club but, if it's not the right thing to do, they can apologise. I think the players, staff and everybody working at the club has to accept that and move on."
