Bruno Fernandes turned in an awful performance as Manchester United lost to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League.

The midfielder lost possession 34 times, completed just 73.8% of his passes and could only manage one shot on target as the Red Devils fell to a humiliating defeat.

And now a 'highlights' video has emerged of his poor performance as United slipped to yet another defeat that heaps more pressure on under-fire boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Fernandes was far from the only player who didn't perform in Turkey but fans expect to see better from the Portuguese schemer who was so impressive last season when he joined United from Sporting Lisbon in January for an initial £47m.

Attention now turns to United's crucial Premier League trip to Goodison Park to face Everton this weekend. The Red Devils sit 15th in the table and Fernandes knows they need to improve following successive losses to Arsenal and Basaksehir.

When asked if United were struggling for confidence, he told MUTV: "After two defeats it's hard to think or say something about this.

"But we need to look one week ago everyone said we're going well and doing amazing games, we won against Newcastle, PSG, we beat Leipzig and we drew against Chelsea, but the points we have in the league is not the points we want.

"In the league we're not in a good position, we need to do much better and we need to do something in the next game."

Horrendous defending saw United fall 2-0 behind to Basaksehir, before Anthony Martial pulled one back just before half-time.

"Today was a bad game, everything went wrong, we did everything wrong. They found a goal early and after that the game was complicated for us," said Fernandes.

"I think we can do much better, everyone feels that. We know we can't concede goals like that, but now it's time to look at what we did wrong and make it better in the next game."
