Just moments after the start of the race, the Frenchman's car started sparking and went off the track at turn three. Apparently out of control, it flew into the sidings, with a large explosion - and images of the aftermath show that the actual car split in two from the collision.
There was immediately a red flag and the race was brought to a stop.

Luckily, Grosjean was able to walk away from the crash, getting out of the car and joining the medical team. He has now been taken for a medical assessment, and the Haas F1 team has reported that he has minor burns on his hands and ankles but is otherwise OK.
Across social media, fans were shocked by the incident, and thankful that Grosjean was able to walk away from it apparently without serious injury.
