The Amazing Lionel Messi Goal That Blew Thierry Henry’s Mind At Barcelona

Pep Guardiola and Henry couldn't believe their eyes.

Lionel Messi once scored a goal so incredible it left Thierry Henry absolutely, visibly, blown away.

The Arsenal legend was in his final season at Barcelona and on the bench when his side visited Real Zaragoza in 2010. At least that meant the Arsenal legend had the perfect view for some Messi magic.

The middle goal in a Messi hat-trick (of course it was) is a thing of beauty. The Barca magician fends off an opponent in midfield then beats four players - if we count one baffled defender twice - as he scores after a dazzling solo run.

Every single person on the Barcelona bench is on their feet afterwards - including manager Pep Guardiola who looks in a trance.

But the most astonished reaction belongs to Henry, who runs around with his hands clasped to his dome as if he is trying to stop his head exploding.

It's clear that the France and Arsenal record goalscorer - no stranger to a special individual goal himself - cannot quite believe what he's just watched during Barcelona's 4-2 win.

Henry has previously claimed that a Messi goal against Malaga is the best one that he saw his former teammate score. But few goals can have produced a reaction like this.

Messi has actually admitted that he felt slightly starstruck by Henry when he first joined Barca in 2007, as he was such a big fan of the French forward when he was first breaking through as a youngster.

The two, alongside Samuel Eto'o, formed a terrific attacking trio as Guardiola's team won a remarkable six trophies in 2008/09.

That was Henry's peak season for Barca. But for Messi, he was clearly just heading to even greater and greater heights after his wonder goal against Zaragoza.
