Gerard Pique Reveals How Liverpool Made Him Throw Things In Anger

Anfield is not a happy place for the Barcelona legend.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been speaking to Spanish media about the low points of his career, and revealed the biggest defeat of his career.

There have been quite a few for the Blaugrana in recent years, with Champions League disappointments against the likes of Roma, PSG, and Bayern Munich surely some the most disappointing for the Nou Camp faithful.

However, it is the time Liverpool reversed a three-goal deficit at Anfield that particularly haunts Pique, with the Barca legend admitting that it is one of the only times that he has become angry enough to physically react after a game.

A brace from Lionel Messi and a goal from former Anfield favourite Luis Suarez in the first leg of the 2019 Champions League semi-final had Barcelona thinking that the second leg could be a walkover on Merseyside.

However, it wasn't to be, with unlikely heroes Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum scoring twice each to give the Reds an historic victory at Anfield. The final goal, from Origi, was particularly notable for how Trent Alexander-Arnold caught the Barcelona defence, including Pique, napping with a quick corner to tap home before they noticed what was happening.

Speaking to Spanish TV3 program, Nexes, Pique answered, "Anfield," when asked about the biggest loss of his career.

"I'm not the kind of player who comes into the dressing room throwing things on the floor to express my anger.

"But because of the first leg advantage, I did just that."

Is the biggest defeat for Barcelona in recent years? Or should Pique be worred about the 8-2 v Bayern Munich and the Roma comeback?
