Gary Neville appears to be optimistic about Liverpool's chances to win the Premier League next season despite the side being one of Manchester United's biggest rivals.

Manchester City are still the favourites for the title, winning last season at a canter, a 19 point difference between them and the Red Devils, who finished runners-up.

When asked which club will win the title out of Liverpool and Man City, Neville tweeted: "Oh Liverpool have won it haven't they? 40pts will do us."

Liverpool have brought a wealth of talent this summer and look to set to embark on their strongest ever season. They earned a spot in the Champions League final last campaign but two howlers from Loris Karius meant they lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.

Fabinho, Naby Keita, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson have joined up to an already brilliant squad, and so there's a lot to be excited about.

Manchester United have added to their ranks but the fans are largely feeling disillusioned with their club's manager, Jose Mourinho. The former Chelsea boss has been talking down the players at the club and his overall defensive style of play doesn't fit the bill at Man United.

It might be one of the most worrying periods ever at Old Trafford during preseason, and these troubling times are encapsulated in Neville's tweet, here, suggesting that a good season for Man United would just be 40 points - meaning avoiding relegation.

Where do you think Man United will finish next season?
