Stockport Manager Refused To Do Sky Sports Interviews Because They Never Fixed His Skybox

Stockport Manager Refused To Do Sky Sports Interviews Because They Never Fixed His Skybox

Stockport County manager Jim Gannon went through a spell of not accepting interviews from Sky Sports - because they never fixed his faulty Skybox.

The 52-year-old has had three stints in charge of County, with one spell seeing him start a one-man war with Sky.

Liam Dickinson played under Gannon in 2008 and the club achieved promotion to League One via the play-offs. But he wasn't keen to speak with Sky that season.

Forward Dickinson told the 'I Had Trials Once' podcast: "So the season we got promoted, we could've been on Sky a couple of times.

"But he [Gannon] refused to do an interview for Sky because his Skybox broke and nobody came round to fix it.

"Swear on my life, swear to god that's true! So he refused to do interviews with Sky because they wouldn't fix his box, nobody would come out to fix it.

"Probably lost the club a good few grand. The first interview he did was the play off semi-final. He kind of had to because we were on Sky and it was in the contract.

"Think they gave him a new box as well!"

It is believed the Skybox dispute went on for around nine months before Gannon started speaking to them again.

County welcomed Premier League outfit West Ham United to Edgeley Park on Monday evening in an FA Cup third round clash.

Hammers star Declan Rice asked referee Mike Dean what was going on while captain Mark Noble watched the spectacle unfold.

It was revealed on social media that the fireworks were being set off in support of a local 15-year-old boy name Khia, who was hit by a car over the festive period and is recovering from injuries.
