Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confused Manchester United fans by immediately contradicting himself in a post-match interview after being eliminated from the Champions League.

United needed a point against RB Leipzig to qualify from Group H, but they lost the game 3-2.

It's disappointing for the Red Devils who won their first two group games - but Solskjaer can't decide how his team should react.

He spoke to BT Sport following the game and told them: "As a footballer, you can't feel sorry for yourself."

Seconds later, he followed up with: "You've just got to, errr... feel sorry for yourself for a few minutes tonight and then move on to Saturday."

The 47-year-old's wry smile shows he is probably trying to lighten the mood after a poor evening.

Nevertheless, tensions are running high among United fans after the result and they're furious with their manager.

Leipzig took the lead inside two minutes through Angelino, with the on-loan Manchester City defender firing past David de Gea.

Amadou Haidara doubled their lead in the 13th minute and Julian Nagelsmann's side were in cruise control, having a goal disallowed in the first half as well.

A mix-up in the United defence allowed Justin Kluivert to dink over de Gea and give Lepizig an important third goal in the second half.

Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty and Paul Pogba scored a header to bring the scores to 3-2, making it a nervy finale.

That's how the game would end however and United have dropped down to the Europa League, a competition they reached the semi-finals of last season.
