If this is part of a transfer announcement, the internet will explode.

Gareth Bale is booked in for a game of golf with Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy later today as a return inches closer.

Bale looks set to end his Real Madrid nightmare in the next few days and sign for Spurs on a season-long loan.

He trained away from his 'Los Blancos' teammates on Thursday and is reportedly on his way to London.

When he arrives, he'll have an important bit of business to attend to - Levy and chief scout Steve Hitchin want to indulge the Welshman in his favourite pastime.

If the image circulating on social media is to be believed, the trio will be taking to the green for a 13:52 tee time this afternoon.

Will Bale have been announced as a Spurs player by then? Or is this part of the biggest transfer reveal of all time?

Fans have reacted to the news and they think there is no greater pairing than Bale and the sport of golf.

The 31-year-old's fondness for golf has been quite endearing to Premier League fans, while it drove Madrid fans mental.

One key incident was the famous 'Wales. Golf. Madrid' banner Bale unveiled while on international duty last year.

He has even been videoed playing golf while missing important Madrid games in recent years - proving he really stopped caring.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho refused to discuss Bale's transfer following Thursday's Europa League win over Locomotiv Plovdiv.

"Until I'm told Bale is a Tottenham player, I still think and feel and respect the fact he's a Real Madrid player," he explained.

"I'm not going to comment on a Real Madrid player."
