Bayer Leverkusen's Twitter account has savagely trolled a Manchester United fan over how far they are off Liverpool this season.

The United fan had attempted to joke about Leverkusen's fifth place in the Bundesliga table.

But the German club's admin was ready for any slander and fired back with a tweet reading:

"Your team is literally 38 points from the top of the table and you come here to say that?"

United are currently languishing in eighth place in the Premier League while bitter rivals Liverpool are 22 points ahead at the summit.

Fans were quick to reply to the post and praise Leverkusen for their quick wit.

It's not the first time that Leverkusen's account has trolled an English club and it's fans.

Following Tottenham Hotspur's 7-2 drubbing at the hands of Bayern Munich in October, they mocked Spurs and suggested they should try their hands at a different sport.

Leverkusen will be buoyed by their thrilling 4-3 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

The game was a hectic affair with Emre Can's stunner being a highlight.

The German was making his debut following a move from Juventus and made it a day to remember which his beautiful curling effort.

Dortmund were 1-0 down in the 20th minute when Kevin Volland opened the scoring for the hosts, before Mats Hummels instantly replied with his first goal in his second spell with the club from a Jadon Sancho corner.

Can's screamer put Lucien Favre's side in the lead, only for Volland to notch a second and pull Leverkusen level going into half-time.

Dortmund regained the lead in the second half through Raphael Guerrero, who finished a superb, free-flowing team move.

However, Leverkusen rallied and two goals in two minutes from Leon Bailey and Lars Bender gave them a dramatic victory.
