Neil Warnock Hilariously Blasts Referee From Touchline In Middlesbrough Youth Game

Neil Warnock turned up to watch Middlesbrough U23s on Sunday - as the referee knew only too well, as he was subject to a verbal volley from the Boro boss.

A fired-up Warnock wasn't about to take the game against Leeds United U23s lightly, as his foghorn voice travelled across the pitch, carrying some choice words for the official in charge.

"Consistent ref, eh!? You'll give them all day man!" Warnock bellowed at top volume as Leeds innocently took their time with a midfield free-kick.

"He said he saw it here - and he didn't think it were malicious?" he later muttered gruffly. "He's given one [a free-kick] here, for f**k all... f**king ridiculous."

The pure passion from the 72-year-old gaffer is exceptional, in what looks a fairly sedate U23 match on a cold January day. Perhaps The Warn was right to get angry though, as his side did lose 4-2 (despite a double from 18-year-old Boro player Cain Sykes).

"Watched it as my lad was playing, couldn't believe it when I heard him," said the dad of one of the players on Twitter, impressed that Neil had made the effort to attend.

"Warnock kicking off at a youth game," laughed one Middlesbrough fan.

Another added: "He's single-handedly getting me through lockdown."

The sheer, expletive-filled passion from a man who entered football management in 1980 is something to behold.

But of course it's also no surprise. The man affectionately nicknamed 'Colin Wanker' has been a cult hero for a long time.

His bawling team talks, touchline antics and plain speaking have won the promotion specialist an army of fans.

Although we're not entirely sure that the referee for Middlesbrough U23 vs Leeds United U23 will be among Warnock's list of admirers after Sunday's outburst.
