One desperate Liverpool fan has started a GoFundMe to raise money for Kylian Mbappe's transfer to Liverpool.
Unfortunately, early on the fundraising stalled at just £65. As the target is a world-record £250 million to complete the signing of the Paris Saint-Germain superstar, that left the organiser an imposing £249,999,935 short of the target.
Still, it is up to over £200 now, so clearly the momentum is there. But admittedly a long way to go.
Jurgen Klopp's Reds have been struggling badly in front of goal in 2021, scoring just one home goal (a Mohamed Salah penalty) in six games this year at Anfield.

So no doubt the 22-year-old Mbappe - who decimated Barcelona with a hat-trick at Camp Nou in February - would be a welcome addition to their squad.
World Cup winner Mbappe has genuinely been linked with a Liverpool move, but the huge sums involved in signing a player widely regarded as a future Ballon d'Or winner might be a struggle for the Reds.

Hence this GoFundMe entitled simply 'Get Mbappe to Liverpool'.
"As Liverpool do not have the funds to attempt such a bid, we thought we would take it upon ourselves to raise the cash from all fans around the world. Let's shock the footballing world," reads the description.
"There are roughly 100m Liverpool FC fans on a global basis. If all fans donated we would only need to donate £2.50 each in order to raise enough to talk to Kylian."
"Let's band together to create the first ever, and largest ever, fan-raised football transfer fee and facilitate the largest transfer of all time. Let's make history."

It should be pointed out that the GoFundMe generously ends with: "If we fail in our aim to raise £250m, all proceeds raised will go to the LFC Foundation."
So basically that £65 - and whatever else the GoFundMe raises - will actually go to a charitable cause.
Unless, of course, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos pile into the GoFundMe and it actually reaches the £250 million total - meaning Mbappe could be a Liverpool player by the summer.

Stranger things have happened in football. Though admittedly not many.
