It went as you would expect.

The World Cup 2018 is nearing and there's not much we can do apart from sit, wait and predict.

And the best way to make predictions is, of course, using a highly-intelligent simulator: Football Manager.

As per Dream Team, they ran a simulation of the entire tournament - but the question we're all asking if: How well did England do?

The simulation omits some of the calls by England boss Gareth Southgate and we see players Michael Keane, Nathaniel Clyne, Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge and Tom Heaton getting the nod.

In England's group, they actually come out on top, beating the mighty Belgium. A 8-0 win over Panama, while Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford bag in some goals of the team to see England progress to the knockout stages of the competition.

In the first knockout game, England face Poland, where the whole things collapses, in classic England fashion. Despite a superb group stage, England drag out a 0-0 with Poland for an awful 120 mins before the Poles win on penalty kicks. Southgate immediately announces his resignation from the national side and we're left deflated but not overly surprised, watching the reminder of the competition.

We just hope that Russia 2018 will pan out nothing like that.
