Chelsea supporters will be hoping it'll go better than this.

Football Manager has simulated Chelsea's first season under new manager Maurizio Sarri and there appears to be not much improvement from last season.

Sarri's Napoli were billed as one of the best teams in the world by Pep Guardiola, the manager complimenting them on their brilliant style of play. Sarri almost won the Italian league with Napoli, but Juventus pulled out of the traps in the final few games and earned yet another title win.

Even still, everyone was impressed with Napoli and Sarri, which is why Blues supporters were happy to hear that he would be taking over from Antonio Conte, who left over disputes with the club's hierarchy.

And so the side have been put through their paces on Football Manager 2018, going through an entire season, and the results are in.

Tammy Abraham and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were loaned out and Jorginho was the only player to join in the summer, while in January, Fagner, Matheus and striker Enner Valencia.

Sarri went for a 4-3-3 formation, the same he used at Napoli.

The season didn't go to plan, though.

Chelsea were knocked out of the F.A Cup in the sixth round to Burnley, with Arsenal defeating them in the League Cup quarterfinals and Europa League semifinals - ouch.

In the league, Chelsea finished a respectable third place, not winning any silverware, but winning a spot in the Champions League. It's surely progress for the west London side, but Blues supporters would be expecting more.
