New footage has emerged of Karim Benzema speaking face-to-face with Real Madrid team-mate Vinicius Jr just minutes after telling Ferland Mendy not to pass the youngster.

Real Madrid drew 2-2 with Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

But by Wednesday morning a clip, which showed Benzema telling Mendy not to pass to Vinicius Jr during the half-time break, had gone viral.

Real were 2-0 down at that stage and Benzema apparently told Mendy "I swear on my mother, he's playing against us."

Stat wizards Opta then revealed on Wednesday that Benzema didn't pass to Vinicius Jr once during the second half, despite doing so on three occasions during the first period.

But a new clip shows that Benzema did in fact say something to his younger team-mate as the pair walked on the pitch to start the second half.

Mendy gets involved in the conversation as the pair walk onto the pitch while talking to each other with their mouths covered.

Benzema and Vinicius Jr gesture to each other while Mendy stands in the middle, possibly mediating their disagreement.

Benzema ended up as Real's hero, scoring twice in the dying minutes to rescue a point for his side.

But his crude words about Vinicius Jr has left a sour taste on a lot of football fans' mouths.

Vinicius Jr was clearly adjudged by Benzema to have been wasteful in possession during the first half of the game.

Benzema is seen as one go the big leaders in Real's dressing room, following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure two years ago.

With his two goals, Benzema became the second man in history behind Lionel Messi to score in 16 straight Champions League seasons.

Real Madrid have just one point from two games in the Champions League now, following their loss to Shakhtar Donetsk on the opening match day.
