Fernandinho believes the British press have an agenda against teammate Raheem Sterling.

Sterling has picked up stick for having a tattoo of a gun on his leg. People - namely the British press - suggest that it glamorises gun violence, that it was irresponsible of the Manchester City player and that he has a responsibility as an England national to be a positive role model.

The press attacked Sterling for the tattoo, before he took to social media later revealed that he got the tattoo done to commemorate the death of his father, who was murdered in Jamaica when Sterling was a youth, saying that the print had a 'deeper meaning'.

The tattoo has meaning to Sterling and the saga has shown up certain sections of the tabloid media as on a crusade to aimlessly attack the individual for no reason.

But now, in a press conference via The Independent ahead of Brazil's friendly match with Croatia, his City mate Fernandinho has come out to defend the 23-year-old, saying the attacker is a 'nice guy' and calling Sterling a 'top player.

"I don't know why the people treat him like that. I'm glad because we have him. He's a lovely guy and he never gives up, even with a lot of criticism about him and his football," he said

"He's one of our top players. He decided so many games for us this season, was so important for us.

"They write about him and you can see some pursue it against him. He's a lovely guy, nice guy, and every day he's up, he's happy, and I'm so glad to share the dressing room with him."

A tweet surfaced recently listing all the charitable things that the former Liverpool player has done. It appears that Sterling spends a lot of his time giving back to the community and giving to charitable causes.

All the right people are standing behind Sterling during this whole ordeal.
