Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has announced that he will be stepping down as manager after 22-years in charge, and this has caused pandemonium among Gunner fans, who have inadvertently crashed Arsenal's official site in their search of match tickets.

With it being the last couple of months of Wenger's time in charge of the club, fervent supporters have flocked to the club's website to book tickets for the Frenchman's final games with the side.

But the abundance of users on the site have caused it to crash.

The massive spike in ticket sales because of Wenger's imminent departure comes at a time where the North London's attendances have dwindled, owing to the side's capricious form, particularly away from home.

It hasn't been a great season overall for Arsenal. A Champions League spot is realistically too far to achieve with the Gunners in sixth place, and so the attention has turned to gaining entry to Europe via winning the Europa League. But with Atletico Madrid in the semi-final, it's a tall order.

It's why some fans have stayed at home this season.

Wenger recently come out to defend supporters for their lack of attendance this year. At a press conference, the 68-year-old said. "It is not a big concern. Our crowd is very solid. We are sold out every game.

"We have played on special days and are not going for the league. We have faithful fans who will always be there," he said.

When you look at the renewal numbers, they are outstanding."

Wenger's last games include: West Ham, Atletico and Burnley at home, with away trips Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Leicester and Huddersfield in his final few weeks in charge of the club he has won 16 trophies for.

Perhaps that's testament to the man's genial and humble disposition is that it's not just Gunner supporters getting misty-eyed today following the news.

Wenger has touched the hearts of everyone who has been watching the Premier League for the past twenty or so years. He's a footballing master, a gentleman; one of a kind, and a true legend in every sense. You will be missed, Monsieur Wenger.
