Manchester United fans can't understand why Brandon Williams was marking Virgil Van Dijk for Liverpool's opening goal.

Van Dijk gave Liverpool the lead within the first 15 minutes from a corner and he rose above his marker to nod home.

Teenager Williams was tasked with marking the six foot four Dutchman so it comes as no surprise he headed home unchallenged.

United fans were quick to comment on the youngster marking van Dijk and questioned why it wasn't Victor Lindelof or Harry Maguire.

Liverpool found the back of the net again through Roberto Firmino but VAR intervened and ruled it out.

Van Dijk was judged to have fouled David de Gea in the build-up before Firmino bent home a lovely strike after a mistake from Lindelof.

Gini Wijnaldum also found the back of the net but found himself offside.

United have been relatively toothless in attack but Andreas Pereira had a glorious chance and hit it just past the post.

Do you think United have a way back into this game?
