Erling Haaland Prepared To Snub Real Madrid For This Crucial Reason

The Norwegian will only sign for the La Liga club if he is able to be the main man.

Erling Haaland will turn down the advances of Real Madrid, but only if the Spanish club try and sign Kylian Mbappe first.

The Borussia Dortmund forward is expected to trigger a bidding war next summer, with Los Blancos possibly being one of the interested parties.

Haaland will be available for just £66m thanks to a release clause in the player's contract, but according to a report by Marca, he would be prepared to turn down Real even if they do bid for him.

Mbappe is thought to be the main reason for this, as Haaland doesn't want to play second fiddle to his young rival.

The Frenchman was subject to a £177m bid from Real Madrid this summer, which was staggeringly turned down his current club, PSG.

However, with Mbappe being a free agent next season, and the player desperate to make the move to the Bernabeu, the summer of 2022 should see the deal finally go through.

In theory, this means that Los Blancos could sign both Mbappe and Haaland for a relatively small overall fee, but that seemingly isn't something the Norweigen would welcome.

Haaland would prefer to be the main man at another club, and he is willing to reject Madrid if he has to share the spotlight with the 22-year-old.

The news will come as a boost to Haaland's various other suitors, including a trio of Premier League clubs.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been linked in recent months, and will all surely attempt to convince the 21-year-old to choose England rather than Spain.

Dortmund will also attempt to try and keep hold of their prized asset for one more season, especially given that the player himself is reportedly yet to make his mind up.

Don't discount PSG from joining the race either, as the French outfit will have a Mbappe shaped hole in their forward line if he does indeed join Real.

After scoring a remarkable 68 goals in 67 games for Dortmund since joining last year, it's hardly surprising that Europe's superclubs are all queuing up to land the marksman.
