Erling Haaland is one of football's fastest rising stars - but did you know there's a second way to pronounce his name?

The 20-year-old emerged on the scene with RB Salzburg last season and secured a huge move to Borussia Dortmund in January.

Since then, he's been a relentless goalscoring machine and before he becomes one of the best in world football, we should probably learn his name properly.

Speaking to German reporters earlier this year, he begun: "If you're not in Norway, you can say Er - ling Braut Hå - land," which is how we've all probably been saying it.

Sounds simple enough. But then Haaland explains how it's pronounced in his native Norway with a Norwegian fan confirming in the comments.

"If you're in Norway, you can say Err - Ling - Bra'ot - Holland. We're not in Norway now, so you can say Erling Braut Haaland."

One fan commented: "I've been telling my friends it's Holland for months."

While a second was left confused and added: "So is HAland or HOland?"

A third stated: "I said it the right way all the time."

Haaland returns to action in the Champions League tonight when Dortmund take on Club Brugge and it's the competition he's made his name in.

Last season saw him take on Liverpool with Salzburg and prior to the game, he named Jurgen Klopp's side as best in the world.

The youngster can be seen walking onto the pitch and saying: "The best team in the world. Very good fans, stadium, atmosphere, everything.

"So now it's a dream coming true to be playing here."

Haaland did manage to score against Jurgen Klopp's side but Salzburg fell to a 4-3 defeat.

Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund believes he's nailed on to move to Liverpool in the future - much to the excitement of Reds fans.

When Bayern Munich and Germany legend Lothar Matthaus name-dropped Liverpool as potential suitors during an appearance on Sky Sports, Freund was inclined to agree.

"That's where he will land," Freund said.

"He can play for any club in the world. With his mentality, his will, with his self-confidence he can make a mark on European football in the next ten years."
