Eden Hazard has hit back at rumours he returned to Real Madrid overweight by starring in an intense video workout.

The Belgian international reportedly infuriated manager Zinedine Zidane by returning to training looking heavier than usual.

Spanish publication SPORT even claimed Hazard is an extra "two or three weeks" behind the rest of the squad.

But the 29-year-old looks to have responded emphatically with a compilation of him training in the gym.

He can be seen lifting a number of weights, doing push-ups and completing endurance exercises in a bid to reach match fitness.

Hazard joined up with the Belgium squad last week for their Nations League games but he didn't play a single minute, with Roberto Martinez claiming he wasn't fit enough.

Madrid's hierarchy are 'worried' the former Chelsea man isn't taking his position as a Madrid star seriously and want him to show more commitment.

Fans have reacted to the clip and they are hoping Hazard can kick on in his second season.

Hazard arrived in the Spanish capital last summer for a fee of around £100 million and it hasn't gone to plan.

The winger scored just one goal in his debut campaign and was overshadowed by young Brazilians Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior.

Hazard recently admitted 2019/2020 was his personal worst season, despite Madrid winning their 34th La Liga title.

"This year, we collectively won this league title, but I have surely had the worst season of my career individually," he told France Info.

"It was a somewhat strange season, with everything that happened.

"When you play for Real Madrid, you want to win all the titles."
