Eden Hazard has become Chelsea's knight in shining armour in recent years - but these quotes from the star following his clash against England in the World Cup has thrown his future at the club in serious doubt.

Last season for the Blues, when the side were going through a mini-crisis, with then manager Antonio Conte having a massive public falling out with the club's hierarchy, the Belgium international was probably, at times, one of the only things that kept the supporters going. He was certainly key in Chelsea's victory over Manchester United in the F.A Cup final, their only silverware that season.

There has always been suggestions and reports that the superstar would be pulled away in another direction, after many fantastic years at Stamford Bridge.

But now, unfortunately for Chelsea fans, the attacker has dropped the biggest hint yet that he will be departing the club in West London, and making his way to new ventures.

Via Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, Hazard has said in Russia after Belgium's 2-0 win over England in the World Cup third place playoff: "After six wonderful years at Chelsea, it might be time to discover something different. Certainly after this World Cup. I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision - if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination."

It's not quotes that Chelsea supporters would want to hear, but nevertheless, given Hazard's unflinching talent, he appears that a move to bigger and greater things is on the cards for him, especially at a time of great unrest and uncertainty at the Bridge.

The fans are at a loss - with some going through the 'denial' stage:

Where he will go - who knows? Real Madrid have just sold their best player, Cristiano Ronaldo, and have money to play with. They've always been interested in Hazard, so this move could well be in the pipeline.
