Diego Godin's Agent Played Man United Brilliantly
Manchester United were left short-changed this transfer window. In hot pursuit of a centre-back, they came away with nothing.
Now the supporters are outraged. They want nothing more than for Man United to compete next season and maybe even make a challenge for the Premier League, but that looks highly unlikely right now. Where other clubs have strengthened a great deal, Man United have barely added to their squad.
So what happened on deadline day? Reports surfaced linked Man United to several top defender, and with just a few hours to go, veteran centre-back Diego Godín was reportedly inquired about.
And here's why. His agent did something very clever. He contacted Man United, asked if they were interested - an approach was made by the Red Devils, before Atleitco Madrid offered the 32-year-old a glowing new deal. What a move.
On Diego Godin, his agent engaged in interesting tactics. Agent approached @ManUtd and said player was keen to join. United made an approach to @atletienglish but within hours, Godin signed new, improved deal worth 7.5million euros a year! Nice!- Jim White (@JimWhite) August 9, 2018
The reaction went down a storm but Man United were not too pleased.

Man United finished runners-up in the league last season, but the 19 point gap between them and first spot meant that it was hardly a title race. Their cup competitions offers little relief.
