Lionel Messi's first Paris Saint-Germain start ended a 1-1 draw with Club Brugge, with footage proving he was 'let down' by his teammates.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner couldn't lead PSG to victory in Wednesday night's Champions League Group A opener.

He had a quiet night by his own high standards and some think they've pinpointed exactly why.

@MessiMX30i has shared footage of Messi attempting to break Brugge's sturdy backline down - with none of his teammates helping.

Messi attempts to dribble his way through as his fellow PSG stars loiter behind him. It forced Messi to stop attacking and make a back-pass.

It looked similar to Messi's time at Barcelona when he became the sole attacking outlet.

Fans have already voiced their concern and think PSG could be the wrong team for Messi, despite it only being a month since he joined.

Ander Herrera opening the scoring inside 15 minutes with a low drive from a Kylian Mbappe cross.

The 32-year-old has four goals and two assists in his opening six matches this campaign.

PSG's lead wouldn't last however as just 12 minutes later, as Hans Vanaken fired a similar effort past Keylor Navas.

The Ligue 1 outfit dominated possession and Messi managed to hit the bar with a curling effort.

Mbappe was forced off via injury in a second half that didn't produce much drama.

It was the first time Mbappe, Neymar and Messi started as a trio and manager Mauricio Pochettino stressed it'll take time to click.

He explained post-match per SportStar: "It requires time for them to shine together.

"It requires work. I had made it clear that we're not a team yet. We have to work for this."

Meanwhile in Group A, Manchester City ran out 6-3 winners over RB Leipzig in a stunning contest.

Who do you think will qualify from Group A?
