He may have hit 40 goals in a calendar year, but Cristiano Ronaldo has not been included in a list of the top 10 performers of 2020.

Carteret Analytics have looked at how each player in world football has helped their side win football matches.

They've calculated their own individual 'Carteret Rating', with Juventus star Ronaldo coming out as the 11th best player of 2020 with a rating of 235.5.

Barcelona's Lionel Messi comes out on top with a rating of 317.4, with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski second on 310.3.

Premier League duo Kevin De Bruyne (297.9) of Manchester City and Harry Kane (274.9) of Tottenham come in third and fourth respectively.

Liverpool have three players in the top 10. Mohamed Salah was seventh with 268.0, Virgil van Dijk eighth with 264.6 and Sadio Mane ninth with 254.2.

Chelsea's Timo Werner (242.4) was 10th.

Here's the top 10:

10. Timo Werner (Chelsea)

9. Sadio Mane (Liverpool)

8. Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

7. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)

6. Mo Salah (Liverpool)

5. Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund)

4. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

3. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)

2. Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

In better news for Ronaldo, both he and Messi were named in the Ballon d'Or all-time best XI, along with the likes of Pele and Diego Maradona.

Ronaldo missed a penalty as Juventus drew for the sixth time in 12 Serie A games, this time against Atalanta, on Wednesday night.

Juve, who have won the past nine titles, are unbeaten after 12 league games under Andrea Pirlo, although half of them have been draws.

They're third in the table, four points behind leaders AC Milan.
