An unnamed Premier League club has suggested the current season be finished in China as officials hold talks on how to save the season.

The Premier League is currently postponed until April 30 at least due to the coronavirus pandemic and failure to finish this campaign could cost clubs up to £762 million.

A chief executive of an unnamed club has told The Athletic that desperate measures are being considered to ensure this season is concluded.

"The country that keeps getting proposed is China," they began.

"It just doesn't make any sense. It is a crazy idea and I think it will get firmly rejected.

"If we were to pick up the Premier League and move it to another part of world right now we'd get absolutely slaughtered.

"Somebody accused us the other day of being in a bubble. I feel a little bit like they are right at the moment - even though I am not, I can see why people think we are."

Another executive also chimed in on the discussion and stated: "It's just a waste of energy. Let's just say we all want to start the league and life. Unfortunately only God and the pandemic can make this decision. And it does not look likely."

All 20 Premier League sides will take part in a video conference call on Friday in an attempt to move the season forward.

UEFA have recently announced their method of giving domestic leagues enough time to finish their seasons in the summer.

International fixtures have been pushed back to September at least while the Champions and Europa League resumption dates haven't been set.

Euro 2020 was also scheduled for the summer but that has been pushed back until 2021 due to the current pandemic.

Reports emerged earlier this week that the Premier League are considering using 'World Cup-style' camps as a means to finish the current season, which has nine games remaining.

The Independent have reported that a string of clubs are desperate to finish this season no matter what it takes.

One idea gaining traction is playing all 92 remaining fixtures in June and July with players and media being confined to their own personal camps.

Meanwhile, Thursday saw Belgian officials announce the Juplier Pro League had been ended early with Club Brugge being handed the title.

Belgian publication HLN report that the 'board of directors' for the league have made the decision and confirmation is expected from the 'General Assembly' on April 15.

Do you think the Premier League season will be finished and if so, how?
