However, it didn't always look like the Red Devils were going to be so convincing in their superiority, with their Serie A opponents actually going in at the break 2-1 ahead.
After Bruno Fernandes had put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side ahead after nine minutes, a controversial call was made to give Roma a penalty for handball.
Paul Pogba had been sliding in to block the ball when it hit his arm, with it unclear how he should have moved his limbs out of the way.

Things got worse a quarter of an hour later, when Edin Dzeko made it 2-1, and at half time United fans must have been worrying for their team's chances.
However, the team came out for the second period transformed, and an Edinson Cavani double and Fernandes' second, as well as goals for Pogba and Mason Greenwood, meant that they now go to Rome as comfortable favourites.

Getting back to the penalty, Pogba spoke after the match about the incident and revealed his frustration with the current handball law. He even claimed he might have to learn how to tackle without his arms!
"Just don't tackle. I don't know how to tackle - why should I tackle?
That's my problem! I try to tackle and be the English guy. I need to
practise more," he said.
