He didn't see it, OK?!

Towards the end of the season, it gets harder for TV companies to peddle out the Premier League as some sort of flash, new, must-have commodity you can't live without.

There is still a plethora of matches to be had in the 2017/18 campaign, but narratives have seemingly concluded already: a title decided before we sang Happy New Year, a relegation scrap all-but sealed permitting something spectacular, and the Champions League spots relativity secured by the four teams that currently sit in them.

Last night viewing hardly helped matters. The game, Everton versus Newcastle, won't have its highlights recycled across subscription-TV sport channel adverts, not like Stan Collymore's climatic smash against Newcastle, or Sergio Aguero's emphatic last-gasp winner.

One rehash-able instance that came out of the game, however, is Bobby Madley's protest.

He missed Phil Jagielka's handball in the Everton box, his vision blocked by players.

Gif-able footage with subtitles sees him protest furious Newcastle players who can't believe he's not seen the foul.

"Sorry I didn't see it," Madley says, arms raised

"I didn't see it, sor -."

Newcastle players continue arguing.

"I didn't se -."

Newcastle players continue.

"I didn't -."

Newcastle players continue.

"I SAID I'M SORRY!"

Monday night's snooze-fest ended 1-0 to Everton, meaning they have a slightly better chance of finishing 8th this season over Leicester City and Newcastle. The showing was never going to be a battle for the ages- however, it's very likely Madley's apology turned grouchy-teenager-slamming-door-on-his-parents Gif might just stand the test of time.
